Mission
Umi’s mission is to love, listen to, and support our youth and families in Downtown Newport News, with a specific focus on the Chestnut Avenue Corridor.
We achieve this mission through carefully curated programming, kinship-building events, and bridge-building activities.
Our goal is to elevate and enhance the lives of the people we serve, shifting their thinking and providing opportunities for growth and development that will ultimately create better parents who raise better children who will make a better community. We believe that all community members have a role to play when it comes to nurturing youth and supporting families.
